Tint Advice?

Does anyone know of a brand or model of tint that sets the bar? Did you get a specific type of tint, or did you just specify the darkness?

Also, how much did you pay for what you got? Any recommendations for Atlanta would be appreciated!

Re: Tint Advice?

this was my thread from a few weeks ago: how much to get windows tinted? it ranges but from what eveyone told me on here its going to be about 150-200 to get them all done.

if your not sure what percentage you want you should probley look at what your states laws are, mass is 35%

Re: Tint Advice?

Thanks. I got a quote of $200 from a reputable installer here in ATL, but I was curious about what film to ask about/for and whether or not $200 was a ripoff price. Obviously, I want it to be perfect, and it's worth an extra $50 for the difference between bubbly, purple tint and perfect, dark tint.

get the tint with carbon fiber or whatever they call it. it's fade and bubble resistant and lasts a loooong time as long as you don't touch it with ammonia cleaners and follow all the little rules

Yeah, I've seen some suggestions that if you have an accident, that could come back to bite you in the azz too. Believe me, if someone had limo tint on, hit me, and there was some question of visibility/fault, I would totally point out the illegal tint on their car...

As much as I'd love to have it dark, I also think that if it's not too noticeably different to have it legal at 32% (in Georgia) vs illegal at 20%, why wouldn't I just go with the legal limit? And if it IS noticeable, I am just asking for extra police attention, no?

Re: Tint Advice?

Yah I paid $200 a year ago for my side windows, quarter windows and rear. 20%, I believe it's 3M and has a lifetime warranty thru the shop I went to. The 3M brand itself also has a lifetime warranty...I can take it to any shop that installs 3M and have it replaced if any peeling, bubbling, discoloration etc occurs.

I've had mine on for a little more than a year and have been all over the state...I haven't had any issues...legal on side windows is 35%. Cops are pretty good about it where I live and if I see one going by I roll my windows down.

~30% is noticeably darker than the stock tint...I think 20% is perfect while 5% is too dark, but if you're not comfortable with anything lower the the legal limit, just go with the legal amount, it'll still look good.

Re: Tint Advice?

My wife also surprised me with a gift certificate for tint; so, I got it done yesterday

Well, after talking with the shop, I decided on 20% all around (obviously nothing on windshield). I friggin love it! I got a lifetime warranty on llumar film, both from the shop and the manufacturer. After tax and everything, it was $194.

Here are some pics:

Oh, and I got them to take off that UAW sticker that plagued the left porthole
