misfire in #1

after changing all plugs and wires, still misfiring in #1. is there anything else it could be beside coil pack or injector. is there an easy way to tell which it might be?? also had electric go out briefly but did not stall car. happened only once. could this be related?

How bad is the misfire? can you feel it or is it just a code?

real bad... especially when accelerating... under 3000 rpm... seems to settle after 3000 rpm or at constant speed

If you have the ability : try swapping injector 1 with another injector, say injector 3 or 4 -- and see if the misfire code follows the injector, if it still says cyl 1.. then do a compression test... the PCM will pretty much tell you if its an injector or coil circuit code so... pretty easy to narrow it down

Re: misfire in #1

How often does this occur. Does it misfire as soon as you start the car? Does it ever stop like after it warms up? Are you sure its misfiring and not detonating or pre-ignition?. But to help you understand what they mean, read these:

Detonation:
Detonation is the spontaneous combustion of the end-gas (remaining fuel/air mixture) in the chamber. It always occurs after normal combustion is initiated by the spark plug. The initial combustion at the spark plug is followed by a normal combustion burn. For some reason, likely heat and pressure, the end gas in the chamber spontaneously combusts. The key point here is that detonation occurs after you have initiated the normal combustion with the spark plug.

Pre-ignition:
Pre-ignition is defined as the ignition of the mixture prior to the spark plug firing. Anytime something causes the mixture in the chamber to ignite prior to the spark plug event it is classified as pre-ignition. The two are completely different and abnormal phenomenon.
