Rear end

Think my rear end is going changed it a year ago. It was making a humming sound. Now it's doing again but not as loud it's a slight humming sound. You think maybe it's leaking gear fluid? Should I be concerned?

You could be leaking fluid and that would cause the humming because of low fluid. Cauisng friction. Best beat would be to drain the fluid. Check the gears. If everything is ok then put it back together. When putting the cover back on with the new gasket. Use ultra copper. That stuff is amazing and seals eveything up really well. Good luck

It has a weird smell too. I smelled it once. Almost smells like burnt rubber. I shouldn't be driving my car then if I'm leaking the fluid cuz if it leaks all out it will lock up right?

I actually just noticed it only hums in 3rd gear. Does that Mean my gear is bad?

Re: Rear end

could be fluid, or just the gears are whining, does it go away when you either get on the gas or let off, or between MPH ranges its worse or gone etc?

It's only does it in 3rd gear when I hit the gas it goes away. When I let go of the gas it will still do it for like 5-10 secs then go away
