supercharger

I was looking at the kit from America muscle 5-7 boast. I think it will add about 30-50 HP. What something I should think about adding on the car. It's a 2001 v6 auto

Re: supercharger

After looking prices are 4200-4500.

My guess is it isn't worth it on a V6. Specially for 50hp gains. Save the money build a engine from a 4.6/5.0. Hell YOu can buy a 4.6 cheaper then that to start. Or spend a little more and get a lot more engine.

Re: supercharger

yea is not really worth it for the end results. Also, many dont consider the extra upkeep and strain on the motor. If its not tuned right or even if it is and abused it can destroy the motor... then you have car that doesnt run and required a ton of money to fix... by that time most give up and lose interest and... also lose their money.

I know it is sad but its something you have to really think about and decide if you are doing it because you want to with the 3.8L or if you are just doing it cuz its all you can do vs get another car etc~ In my case I realized it was a far better idea to enjoy my V6 and save up for another vehicle with more potential or more along the lines of what I wanted without having to mod the car a ton... the more mods you do the more hassle you have... just how it ALWAYS works.

Re: supercharger

30-50hp for 4500

You can buy a mid miles 99+ 4.6L 2v and 5spd transmission and install it for just over that...and you'd still be faster, on paper and on the road

Yes either way you'd be better off money vs performance wise.

Unless you're deadset on supercharging your six I'd hold off and look at your options.
