99 V6 3.8L 115,000 miles Mustang Car Problems *PLEASE HELP* LONG STORY

I bought a new alternator about 4-6 months ago and I use my car as a daily vehicle.. 1 week ago my car suddenly shut off while it was running, I tried starting it and it had no power nor would it turn over, headlights wouldn't turn on or the horn wouldnt work.. Well I called a friend to jump me and I waited 10 min and it still didn't work or get any power.. I disconnected the jumper cables and waited 10 more min, I tried again and all of a sudden I got power to everything and it started.. I left it running for a few and attempted to drive, it shut of again and had the same symptoms.. I bought a new battery and it started right up I drove for at the most 20 miles and it shut off again.. It sometimes gets power but wont turn over.. It hasn't started since.. What could this be? Battery cables? Cylinoid? My key? (Key has a micro-chip) Ground cable? Battery cable going to the starter? Any ideas? Please help! Its my Daily driver..

your alternators bad most likely. take it to a shop and have a charging system check. something is draining your battery and killing your alternator.

I would recommend checking your battery cables. If the car loses a chassis ground it won't start, or will only start sometimes.

I believe your grounding cable should run directly from the battery to a chassis ground on the engine. Also check your other cables for wear, chaffing, and proper connections. If there is excessive corrosion or wear I'd recommend replacing them both, cheap security as it can cause many more issues including fire hazards.

Sounds like a bad ground to me. Check your battery posts and your terminals before you go buying anything, you could just have a bad connection. If all fails, for the price of another alternator and a new battery, you could have it diagnosed at a shop, then you would know exactly what the problem is and you could start going in the rite direction. No point in buying something you wont need.

But i would check my connections first.
