Can you put the h pipe from a stock 99-04 Gt on to a 99-04 v6?

pretty much all gt parts will fit on a v6. there the same car just a bigger engine and better tranny and a gt has more options.

Would it be legal? I live in Cali with Nazi laws on smog. and if I found one at a junkyard I would just bolt it on to the stock manifold?

Re: v6 with gt catback?

If your V6 is stock, you would cut out the "Y" pipe connection first and then use the "H" pipe. Pipe will have to be cut and or added.
It takes a bit of planning to minimize alot of modifications when doing the exhaust using V8 parts. Many different options, all starting with whether or not you plan on using the stock headers.

You have to have your years V6 specific primaries bought new. Split port primaries and single port primaries are different. mandrelexhaustsystems.com has examples of primaries for stock headers.
Same when you get long tube headers. The year specific is unusual, skips a year I believe.
An "H" pipe should be legit legal in Ca. considering they were stock on the V8's and stock on the new V6's. Just as long as you have your cats and they can remove the proper levels of HC, CO, Nox, ect..

I am like a kid waiting for Christmas planning my re-do exhaust system.
My O2 sensors are all in need of replacement, my cats are going and I'm installing two metal-core cats. I want to add a ProChamber but the timing has to be right for it to happen. Too expensive brand new. Reusing my FM 10's. The cheapest route is to keep stock headers, buy a primaries/cats/mid-pipe kit from mandrelexhaustsystems that will just bolt right up with cats in place, mid-pipe in place ready to go!

I think I will either straight pipe it with stock y pipes or get a dual exhaust. Not true duals cause a system costs around 600 for labor

Re: v6 with gt catback?

Well, alot of people here can help with option opinions, or you can PM me if you have a bunch of questions. I don't mind. Take your time making up your mind. It is one of the very funnest mods you can do. Most people get one and then want to make it better or louder, its a great modification that you can enjoy every time you are in the car!
Option- You can keep your "Y" pipe and bolt on a direct fit "cat back system"
Option- You can go the economical way and purchase 2 mufflers, and a set of tail pipes, and then take them to a real garage and let them put it together for you with no mid pipe. It will be "divorced duals"
There are many, many options. Depends on what you want in the end and how much you can spend. I have the "Option Two"-Economical route, divorced duals.
Sounds like this:

Re: v6 with gt catback?

I think a selection of just one muffler would sound better. There are four cats, removal of two or all four make a difference too. There is a video of a single Borla, and a single Flowmaster 10 that sound nice.

I think I'll keep the muffler on and I live in Cali co I can't do much to the cats. I have to get a couple replaced and I'm getting high flow cats that are legal

Re: v6 with gt catback?

A single Cherry Bomb "PRO" muffler sounds awesome on the V6. JEGS sells them and alot of other places. Good luck with it.
