for those of you who have installed the vap windstar kit

getting ready to install mine in a couple days, the instructions are a bit intimidating. any tips or advice that would make the install easier are welcome. also do i really need to remove the inulating pad under the hood? the instructions say to knock off the bolts for the hood scoop which ive done but it also recomends removing that pad?

Re: for those of you who have installed the vap windstar kit

I just installed mine a few weeks ago. I didn't remove the hood insulation, but I noticed tonight that I can see where the throttle is digging into it a little. It doesn't effect throttle movement so I'm not gonna mess with it. I also noticed a flat spot where the CAI elbow off the throttle body... again, nothing to be concerned with

Did you get the pictures showing the vacuum line connections? If not, ask Steven for a "road map".

I noticed that the nuts and bolts that were included weren't exactly what I needed. I went to Mac's (hardware store chain) and bought a box of assorted black capscrews and black locknuts with nylon inserts to assemble everything.

The didn't like the way the CAI supplied with the Windstar kit went together. I ended up taking pieces from my CAI that I had bought from AM and made it work to my liking.

After a 12 hour shift my brain isn't working well, if I think of anything else I'll post again...

I used the ones Stephan sent with the kit and had no problems. I had a friend help with the wiring and it seemed to make it go a bit faster. Other than that it went together pretty well. I didn't remove the insulation either. Looks and runs great!

so heres the problem i cant get the overflow section bent out of the way enough for the intake to seat properly, also even if it does seat the section will be in the way of the throttle body?

Ok....looking at the third pic u posted...I know the pics in the instructions I looked at were showing to bend it away from the intake(towards the front if the car) .but did you try bending it to the right? (Towards the driver side ) Or?

Hmm....couldn't tell how close it was......how much farther would it need to go before it'd clear the TB and intake?

Re: for those of you who have installed the vap windstar kit

after two days and several beer breaks, ive got it all back together. seems to run fine. ive got alot of slack in my throttle cable now, which im bout to do something about, and im not happy with the way the filter system is, id like to try to use my k&n cai so i might mess with that some more. all in all i guess it wasnt to bad.

It was the only part that gave me trouble. Everything else is bolts and hoses.
