from what ive read/heard, the 99-04 intake was designed quite well and a CAI probably wont change anything at all. i have one on my 05 and didnt notice any difference. I bought it mostly for looks (found one that matches the red on my car)

Re: Cold air intake

Youll notice a differance in the sound. Youll hear it suck in when you mash the gas and the engine noise will be deeper and a little louder. (not exhaust noise) Other than that theres no real differance by itself other than looking good under the hood.

Re: Cold air intake

It is an intricate part when adding mods prior to getting a dyno tune (Purchasing a SCT tuner).
There is no one single mod that's going to do very much but when its all together and then tuned, it works out well. Get one if you want!
Best performing is probably the K&N CAI. One of the nicest all around is the BBK CAI. It goes for around $169.00. Its pretty.
I just purchased a generic one from AM and replaced the filter they sent me with a K&N filter.
Hope that helps. Have fun with it!

Just remove the snorkle part on the intake that goes into the fender nets the same gain as a cai on 99-04 cars it's not worth it the stock intake is very well designed

On my GT, I have the "Steeda Carbon Fiber (high flow elbo) CAI", but on my Camaro, I have the Airaid CAI, it has good mesh filter and with either, I have absolutely no complaints. I recommend both.

Re: Cold air intake

Got my K&N for 189 off of ebay, installed it and got better gas mileage around town, but ran lean on highway. I ordered a SCT tuner to adjust and have been running fine since
