2001 V6 coupe exhaust replacement

I have the car mentioned above with the stock single tube setup. I want a deeper more aggresive sound that doesn't sound ****ty at high rpms. What's the best I should do without spending a ridiculous amount of money?
-replacing the single muffler?
-getting true duals?
And best brands for this? I'm really liking the flow super 44s..

Re: 2001 V6 coupe exhaust replacement

I suggest you spend 100 hours listening to various exhaust combinations on Youtube... that is the most accurate means by which to determine which combination of header (long or short), midpipe (X or H) (catted or offroad), and then finally which catback you like the most. Some of the descriptions are rather vague, however if you read the comments, sometimes additional details are given.

There are videos with custom made exhaust that sound pretty good. Sometimes a really good exhaust shop can build a system that sounds way better than anything you buy in a box.

you wont find something for the 3.8L V6 that wont sound bad at high rpms, its just the motor (even fire) not much you can do about it.

I recommend a GT take off catback, the mufflers keep it mellow toned but helps it sound more aggressive down low, keeps it from being super loud (annoying) up top.

If you go with a single chamber muffler etc it will sound deeper at idle but will sound worse above 2-2500 rpms.
