Cam gears

Can some one tell me wat cam gears do ??? Lol is it pointless ? Or is it good in any way an is that wat makes the car sound good on ideal ? Keep in mind it's a v 6

Cam gears are for aftermarket cams. And if you want the aggressive idle then exhaust and cams would be a good idea. (if you get cams you'll need cam gears because the factory cam gears are apart of the cam. And you might need valve springs for the higher lope of the cam)

Ok see now im just confused lol cam gears are the round things with spikes on it right ? An cam shaft is eat goes in the motor like in the heads ?

Yeah, there are two timing chains that go from the crankshaft to the cam gears. Then the cam gears turn the cams. They're above the head( assuming you have a sohc).

Yea it's a sohc so ur telling me the cam gears won't mak ur car ideal nice like a v8 ?

Cam gears wouldn't. The camshafts would but if you got camshafts you'd need the cam gears. Or you could get headers and exhaust, that would make it sound good too.
