Auto tranny

I need to know how to read my automatic transmission dip stick in my 2003 V6 3.8L mustang ?? I pull it out and it has two sides with X's on them, one side sits higher and the other is at bottom. When I check this with engine at operating temp and engine running, it shows level to top of the bottom x's, the top x's do not show any fluid. Hope this makes sense..

The top x is when your engine is running is when your supposed to check it.

Re: Auto tranny

Thanks, that makes sense. I did check with engine running and nothing on the top X's, so I put some, small amount in and brought it up into the top X's, I will keep an eye on this. Thanks again.

Normally the higher set of markings is so you can check it when its cold( its higher because theres more fluid in the pan because its not on yhe turning gears) and the bottom set of markings is for checking it at running temp
