Re: 2001 v6 mod advise!

most wont add any real power, you can find an underdrive pulley but in 01 some have external vs internal balanced harmonic balancers and they are made in with the pulley so just FYI to get the right one (look at yours it will have a cut in it or it wont get one that matches). that may add 7rwhp or so~ not really enough to feel.

Rear end gears make a BIG difference, go with 3.73 at least 4.10s if auto with a Tlok unit, install is not cheap when its done right FYI and not cheap when its done wrong either lol.

suspension makes cars faster as well so dont neglect that or wheels/tires

finally, a tune can help as well especially in an auto (shift points firmness etc)

Re: 2001 v6 mod advise!

for a tuner thats about right, do they offer free tunes with it? if not you will have to pay extra.

I would check with VMP and other tuners that are familiar with the V6 and see what type of gains they generally see then see what american muscle sees.

I just ordered a sct tuner from AM on Friday, so hopefully it arrives soon. I have 3 custom tunes on their way also. I have used handheld tuners in the past for other vehicles, and while they might not make a night and day difference, they are in my opinion, the best bang for your buck, especially if you plan to do more mods.

i HIGHLY recommend loading the tune and finding a local dyno with an a/f checker to get a base line and with tune, data log it (easy to do with a laptop and an SCT tuner with a couple software downloads) then you can send them logs and they can update your tune to be more optimal. AND safe.

Good advise. I'll try to find a close shop with a dyno. Thank you.

I love the intake the soound of the air beenin drawn in is awesome and after the tuner, I gained power from changing my fuel air ratio. And true dual I cut my y pipe off tore all my exhaust off and did headers and ran 3 inch piping and rand 2 pipes down instead of the single exhaust that was there
