Re: Best shocks and struts for lowering?

Top Of The Line Parts (In My Own Opinion)
-Tokico (Maximum Motorsports sells kits for any needs)
-Bilstein
-Koni
May be considered a notch down in performance but great products either way:

-QA1
-Eibach
-Roush
-KYB
-Ford Racing "Bullit Kit"
P.S.- I have a set of struts/shocks from KYB and love them to death.

I used Ford Racing "B" Springs AND KYB Shocks/Struts
BEFORE-(Stock):

Kinda pricy but if I could afford it, I'd go with a full coil over kit from KYB. Besides of the great ride you'd get from KYB shocks and struts their springs have a fully adjustable ride hight. 0 to as much as a 4 inch drop. And the struts include an adjustable camber/caster.

Yeah, your lookin at the best. Adjust-ability is something I never considered, only using mine as daily driver.

I'm going with Tokico D-spec after much research. Nothing but good is said about these shocks/struts. You won't be disappointed. I'm ordering mine in a week or so!

The adjustments are for driving outside of normal commuting. Autocross, drag strip, and special condition spirited driving could need the adjust ability. Those Tokico, Koni, and Bilsteins are built so well that they can be used street or track without adjust ability. From what I can tell, a designated race car will use all the adjustments you can provide.

Yes that's what I meant......

Btw rob, how's the kyb shocks/struts with the ford b springs handle? That is the exact same setup I'm doing.

Re: Best shocks and struts for lowering?

Keep in mind you want your shocks and struts to match your lowering springs. The load rates need to match the mildness or aggressiveness of the springs. I was going to go with OEM Mach 1 shocks/struts for my H&R SS's, but after some research I quickly found out those shocks/struts wouldn't have lasted much longer than my stock setup. The much more aggressive load rate that the Super Sports make needed a high performance shock/strut, so I went with the Tokico HP's.

I'd base your selection of shocks/struts off your choice of springs and intention of your suspension - lowered daily driver, street/strip, adjustables for road course etc.

It handle like a dream. I really wish I could put you behind the wheel. I'm not just saying that to justify my choice of parts but it handles great, perfect.
The truth is telling you this is not so easy. It's a very long story to explain how parts were installed, changes made, what I went through correcting bump-stop alignment, ect..ect..
so if interested, I can fully explain what I went through to get it this way.
Lastly, most importantly, I chose Fox-Body parts (springs-shocks/struts).
Just FYI

EXACTLY- My objective was to arrive at a soft, comfort ride, like an old Cadillac, but able to attack corners at a faster rate than stock. I use it as daily driver only.-Very happy, but was not an easy job for me to do-Did the work myself.
