Someone needs to shut this thread down. Lol. Look Pypes are a good exhaust but I recommend you go with flowmasters. I'm done with this thread.

Re: 3.8 exhaust whats sounds best?

I actual had pypes street pro muffler, imo they sound pretty good...here's a video

YouTube - Broadcast Yourself.

That was my old exhaust setup. Stock headers, no cats, xpipe, pypyes street pro mufflers (dumped)

Re: 3.8 exhaust whats sounds best?

Install- Random info:
Hangers need mounting. Pipe diameter after the cats is 2.25". The set of exhaust pipes you'll get go over the axle and it's a tight squeeze, not a problem, just a fact. Long tubes sit pretty low. You will love the results!

Mustang V6 Flowmaster 10 Series Single Chamber - YouTube
My V6 is a single port '97. Divorced Duals:
Stock headers, all four cats, 2.25" divorced dual pipes after cats, pipe sized upped to 2.5" pipe about 10" before the mufflers, Flowmaster 10 Series mufflers, 2.5" tailpipes + tips.
Engine has a bunch of bolt-ons and SCT dyno tuned.

Hell yea if you get rid of your cats got an x and put flow 40's behind the glass packs and if you have a 99-04 you can use headers from a 95-98 sn-95 they pretty much bolt-on and there like shorties for our cars and there's tons of sets at junkyards for like 25 bucks this is my current set up and i love it

Thanks. It's time for me to change things up again in the next couple of weeks. The cats are in need of replacement (250K miles). I am also installing a MAC ProChamber mid-pipe. Should turn out nicely.

Re: 3.8 exhaust whats sounds best?

the entire issue with the V6 is the even fire motor along with small displacement = bad sound. Nothing can really be done about it. It does sound good at idle but thats about it.

With the exception of mine of course! Because I'm special, ...just kidding.
My exhaust system to be replaced next week, 3.8 needs cats for sound and performance in my opinion. I'm keeping the FM 10's. Just replacing w/long tube headers, Magnaflow high flow cats, a ProCamber, followed by the FM 10 Series mufflers.

Re: 3.8 exhaust whats sounds best?

I feel I need to point out something here.... what sounds good to one person may sound like crap to another... and so it goes.

Same goes with paint colors, wheel and tire choices, wings, springs, shiny things...
It's all subjective really... there is no right or wrong really...

I LOVE THE SOUND OF MY EXHAUST from idle all the way to 6k, but you may thing it sucks...

Just my 2 cents...
