Hmm 5x7 I think. You installing yourself or having it done? I ask because I too would like to upgrade my door and rear speakers. I'd like to have Harmon Cardon(spelling) same as the land rover I had, incredible speakers!!

Nice! I installed my amp and sub, but have a tendency to break door panel clips! Still might do my own though as the place here in town is pretty high priced!

What kinda subs n amp?..Yea I would def reccomend you do all your own work. That way you learn as well as know its getting done right. Yea I need new door and rear 6x9 speakers im only running 1 6x9 with my subs right now lol surprisingly it still sounds great for only 1 rear speaker but I can only imagine it with all 4 new ones..I think ima go with memphis all around

I have a Kicker Comp 10" sub in kind of a small ported box, I need a sealed box. The old box barely fit my trunk so a buddy hooked me up with something to get by. The amp is also Kicker 100.2. It's only 117w certified power but it's matched for the speaker. Nothing special but compliments my Mach 460 system well. My door and rear speakers are fine just want to upgrade.

Very true! I've got rattle you can hear outside when I crank it up, so I only
Crank it up on the highway or interstate lol I actually had to cut Deadener of the inside back wall to mount the speaker. Buddy that has the old box has a Kicker brand box that came with the same type speaker we are going to swap. He is a disabled Vet so he takes his time about stuff lol

I'm not only a great Mustang enthusiast, but I love sound systems as well! Right now I'm running 2 Kicker Comp 12's, sealed dual chambered box (1.2cu. in), Kicker 750/1 ZX amp (rated@943w peak), Pioneer 6x8's in the rear, all 4 gauge Kicker power/ground wiring, a tsunami voltage meter, and hit 132 decibels! Love it

Time to show mine off

2 sets of Rockford Fosgate 6x8s all around
Alpine headunit
Alpine Powerpack amp (ktp-445) for my speakers on the way
1 alpine type-r 12" 600watts rms
Alpine MRX-M50 500watt rms amp (rated at 586rms ) in a sealed 1.2cu. Ft. Box

Btw, pic has my old alpine amp. Some a$$hole stole the fuking thing after smashing my passenger side window.

Nah, I need to though... I keep the gain at 1/2 to keep it bearable in the car though most the time (unless I'm really just trying to show it off)

I have my gains just over halfway, also have a bass knob installed (a must haha). I've had so many setups in my Stang, it's stupid! Finally happy with what I've got now, but looking forward to buying 2 L7 Kicker 12's pretty soon!
Here's a few pics of my older setups.

All 4 are 6x8's I have replace them all with kenwoods. Except I bought them with high wattage and my cd player is bada but not big enough for those high dollar kenwoods. I got a 1000watt kicker amp and 2 competitive German 12's they are pretty nice.

Re: Speakers

some of you guys are running small sealed boxes... Back when I had mine I squeezed 2 12" kicker CVR's each in 2 cu ft sealed boxes with a 1000watt amp (450rms) running it, that would thump with a nice, deep bass....

Well, because if you put a sub that requires a smaller box in a larger box, it looses that air cushion effect and can destroy a sub just like a free-air setup would.

Re: Speakers

I went with the "Shelby GT" speaker setup inside, which is Kicker speakers: 8" in front and 6X8" in rear. I added a JLT 10" sub in the Trunk. I have pictures in my Album. Speakers fit perfect and sound excellant.

So it actually told you to make a tiny 1.2 cu ft box for a 12" sub? Sounds odd... The kicker recommendation was around 2cu ft on mine..... Weird..

Mine said 1.25 was optimal (that's minus the volume of the sub btw)

That is still a small sealed box, I used to run a 4.12cu/ft box with my phoenix gold's .... That was more bass than anybody needed.

One of the louder setups in a mustang without doing something extremely crazy and losing all trunk space.

Re: Speakers

Wouldn't putting multiple subs in one box divide the air space by sub? Say there were two wouldn't it have the effect of 2cu ft per sub? Or does it not work that way?
