Whistle sound

There is a whistle sound when I am at about 15+kph. It only comes when I touch the gas pedal but it's fairly loud. I always have music playing because it is very annoying after awhile. No mods other than a k&n filter. Could that be it? Or I was thinking my A/C pulley.

Could be tranny issues. Happened to my friend, and it was something with the tranny.

Re: Whistle sound

My CAI whistles sometimes and sounds like a big turbo other times. It's probably your air filter. You could replace it if the whistle really bothers you. I actually like it.

90% it's the air filter. Mine didn't sound but when I put a CAI in it sounds like a turbo ppl out side can her it. Only when you press the gas though because it sucks in more air and it whistles. I love it. If I don't wanna hear it I just turn music on and if I wanna hear it and think I'm BA in my sixxer I'll ride and just listen to it when I press the gas

If your really worried, open the hood and get someone to step on the peddle and see where the whistles coming from.

I don't have a cold air intake, it's just the k&n air filter.

Re: Whistle sound

It could still be coming from the air box open up the hood and see if you hear it. Your ears will be the best dection device.

Ahh yes the sound.. Love that sound. My next purchase will be a CAI.

It's the filter that whistles, not the cai. You could put the stock one back in and see if it whistles, if you still have it that is.

Oh ok thanks! What would be the difference between a k&n filter and a no name filter.

Re: Whistle sound

Umm depends really, If you get a reusable one or whatever.
k&n makes quality products. I wouldn't change it and stick with the k&n if I were you!

Re: Whistle sound

Open hood. Throttle up slowly. Does sound appear. Stays constant at certain RPM? If so just disconnect air filter assembly. Changes?

Does it change as you go faster in mph or as you go up in rpm?

Well wen I start my car it whistles for a while then it only comes when I touch the pedal, and I can't hear it when it gets to higher rpm cause my exhaust over powers the whistle, it's only really when I give it a steady pace.

Re: Whistle sound

Well that sounds like you need a new filter regardless of if that's the noise maker lol
Try to do what earthdeth said ^ and keep us posted with more information.

I check it out and it's either my air filter or my a/c pulley, it was hard to tell cause my alternator is really squeaky.
