Performance question

I have a 2001 mustang v6 with automatic transmission everything right now is stock but I want to make it perform well enough to make a 12 second run on a quarter mile. What should I do to make it do that?

Alot of work!.. If your concerned more with makeing 12 second runs then I would suggest doing an engine swap to a V8!.. Or trade it in for one!.. That is unless your really wanting to build up your V6!..

There's not many people where I am that would trade a gt for a 6 so I'd have to either engine swap for an 8 or build up my 6 is what your saying?

If you want the easy route then swap in a V8!.. If you want some thing unique then build that V6!.. Even with a V8 you will still have to modify it a bit!.. But not nearly as much as you would with the V6!..

I'm really willing to do the work on my 6. Which would be easiest working up the 6 or swapping and working up an 8? And if I swapped would I have to get a new tranny for it?

Re: Performance question

Not sure what gear your car runs, but I would say a 8.8 rear end with 3.73 gears would help. Plus a cold air intake and a tune will help alittle.

ive seen donors go on craigslist for not bad prices..its going to require some skill to do a swap. your going to need to swap the rear end, harness , etc.etc. suspension as well i asume and your breaks. its going to be a pain thats why i kinda decided to keep my sixxer as is besides bolt ons and stuff like that.

Re: Performance question

Single turbo [turbo kit] + 8.8 rear end + injectors + tune.

Re: Performance question

Just start saving a little extra money on the side, your gonna need that money when you Blow your Engine, and you will Blow it after modding it to get that kind of power, you gonna need to buy a new Engine.

I am planning on saving up for an engine and getting either a gt donor or a brand new v8 to drop in it

Not true at all, plenty of people v6power.net have been running 350-400rwhp for a few years with little to no problem.

Most of the problems have been related to head gaskets if any arise.

Re: Performance question

I love this site. Craziest discussions ever. To make a V6 mustang competitive the costs would be insane. To a V8. Suspension, electronics & brakes to stop extra weight. The time, tools & skill to make it happen. For the $s involved, buy a 5 year old Cobra & you're off to a good start & just saved 10K. Take that 10K and build a monster. I'm accepting my place in the world. Showing the noisy HondaNissanToy budget guys that basic American is still shutting them up. I show them who's better/faster and then my betters show me. Vettes, GTs, Porsches, etc have all had their way with me. Must admit I was laughing out loud as the Lambo went by at about 140 cuz I had the audacity to blow past him after he made bad lane choice in traffic. He proved he was boss and for 250K he can be boss.

stock v6 suspension - the stock 8.8 rear end
stock brakes
time: what it took him to swap in his built bottom end and 62mm turbo kit
result:

i didnt see the video but by the title, i think that is tom jr's run. if so just get a single turbo kit, and 8.8 rear and you will run 12s all day long.
