tranny slipping

Hey I just bought a 1997 3.8 mustang with an automatic transmission for 800 bucks very clean inside and out just has tranny issues I'm thinking its the Tv cable because while looking under the hood I found a cable attached to the throttle body that was damaged I followed the cable to see if it was the kickdown cable or the cruise control cable but I was completely cut off so now I have no idea what the cable belongs to I'm hoping its the kickdown cable any suggestions??? Please help!!!

Re: tranny slipping

What problems come with a disconnected cruise control? Also can you adjust the clutch bands on the transmission and how??

"staboi1198", I'm not trying to cut in on your conversation but out of all the mechanical stuff on a car I will or have dabbled at, A Transmission is something I will NEVER bother with. Thats something I let the PROS deal with. TOO much money to make a mistake on.

Not gonna cause the tranny to slip. My 94 cobra had a broken cruise control cable from the day I bought it. Never any issues. Just don't have any cruise control and not worth the $100 to me to get it fixed.

Some people get rid of the cc to use the buttons to control the radio. Also the transmission in our cars isn't too complex the problem is when we do little fixes or abuse will kill it.

Like already stated the ONLY issue with having the cruise control disconnected is that it won't work. Can't do anything to the bands and clutches inside the tranns besides clean, replace/ rebuild.
