I'm getting a 5.0 H.O to drop in it was also told it will bolt up to my T5 trans but ill have to use 5.0 engine bell houseing cause starter.. my question is electrial side do I get a harness conversion tip that will connect 5.0 computer to v6 interior electrical harness.. so my cluster gauges and interior lights etc. Will work or what??

Re: swap out help

I think the 5.0's ECU is not ODBII, its older tech not sure it can work easily, may have to replace the entire thing and get a new computer.

Your speedo is digital readout on the trans, you may have to swap over to a new cluster as well as the cable driven speedo system (new tailshaft on your T-5 trans)

I am also not sure on the K member, there is a chance but not sure on that.

i would guess that the v6's have the same mounts as the v8's which would be the modular 4.6. so pretty sure the mounts wouldnt be the same since for a 4.6 to go into a fox you need different mounts

Re: swap out help

The EEC in the pre-96 mustang are EEC-IV, so yes they are different. The K-member in the 94-95 5.0 is the same as our 3.8/9s so it should bolt up just fine. I'm not sure about the speedo/trans issue since the trans is a whole seperate entity, so you might have to do some research on that, but just thinking about it, if you need a EEC-IV to run your car, you might need to swap out your tailshaft of your tranny for an older one and go the old school way with a speedo drive and driven gear. Might be easier to just swap the whole tranny IMO since you would need a mechanic to drill a hole in your tail shaft to hold your speedo drive gear in place.

I have a 2000 v6 mustang and it has 126,000 miles on it. So I'm planning on dropping a 2000 Gt motor in it. I have an automatic they had the same automatic transmission those years. What will I need to do this besides getting the gt rear end?

Well k memebers are different so starting there motor mounts.. front suspension not saying front suspension wouldn't work just easier to grab whole with k member ...wire harness.. computer.. possibly even the bell housing on that transmission on GT the radiators are different v6 it may work if u take it easy but more likely swap it to ... Unless u got the donor GT already be cheaper to redo a wrecked GT .. but if your up for the experience more power ... Great learning experience
