Talking First Mustang exhaust questions

I'm 19 and a first time car owner, and Mustang owner, but a life-long fan. It's a 2004 V6 3.9L engine and I wanted to start doing work on it little by little, ya know, kinda build it up on my own a little at a time. My first task is exhaust, but it being a V6 is a single exhaust.

I want to do it right the first time SO, I want to know If i should buy new headers first, then an X-pipe/ a cat back exhaust, or if simply as a first time a MAC dual exhaust conversion kit would be a good place for me to start?

Please be brutally honest!

Honestly if your gonna do headers I would go with longtubes because the shorty headers are just shinny stock ones. As far as a mid pipe I'd look at YouTube and see what sound you like. I have a take off gt h pipe and flowmaster 40s and I love the sound of my car but for your first mod the Mac kit comes with a mid pipe I think and it's easy to install so I would prolly go with that.

Re: First Mustang exhaust questions

yeah the x pipes make them sound raspy. a H pipe or divorced duals would sound better. I think theres something called prochamber.(i'm not sure what it is though) I think its another type of mid pipe.
they have a pace setter H pipe on american muscle on sale right now for $134($175 orginal price) as for the mufflers I personally think the flowmaster 40's and the spintech's sound the best.
I'm going off of forums and youtube videos currently since i haven't got enough money to really start. I'm 16 and my job sucks( my biggest check so far was $158 and thats once every month) so i'm slowly getting the money.
