Only certain ones, if they were in the right condition for the right price... Nothing from inside the motor though

Re: would you ever buy any used mods

Something simple like CAI, TB, exhaust (minus catalytic converters..) Are fine with me.
But things like gears, pulleys, or turbo I wouldn't because those things wear out easily and there's no way to really verify how many miles have been put on mods like that.
How would you like to spend all the time and money on a gear install, only to find out they're worn so bad you can't drive it.. Now that's kind of an exaggerated scenario, but still. Plus with turbos or even catalytic converters the only way to really tell the condition would be to take it apart. And no one trying to sell a turbo would let some stranger take apart something like that.

Unless you can see it running/driving, it just depends on how much you trust the seller.

Same here. You might get the parts fairly cheaper but you dont know the amount of abuse of the mods from the previous owner.

Re: would you ever buy any used mods

I would buy used parts any day-
Exhaust Parts: Borla pieces, MAC ProChamber, tips, ect..
Wheels:
Body Pieces:
-Anything mechanical- Probably not. But I did buy a SPEC clutch that was slightly used but looked brand new and has been working just fine for years. I guess it depends on situation.

Re: would you ever buy any used mods

I'd say it depends on:
1) Demand
2) Price
3) Quality

Basically, how bad you need it, how much they want for it, and the condition it's in..
I think the feeling you get after putting something used in isn't nearly as great as putting a brand new part on.

Maybe that's just me haha

If there used make sure has a warranty most have to have some kinda warranty these days if its from an individual everything is a gamble but its a gamble with new parts at times I have gotten a hold of new parts and be bad its my luck lol ... Always fully check out make sure moving parts move freely gears don't show wear signs etc.. my self use all parts have a lot of salvage connections

Re: would you ever buy any used mods

some items are fine used, some are not. No matter what you take a risk in terms of the person ripping you off, sending you the wrong part, not being honest about the condition of the part, and other such things... so it can be more trouble than its worth if you are not there in person and dont see the part first etc... so more times than not its cheaper to just buy new

Well I've only bought my wheels used off Craigslist. I didn't want to risk anything else but sometimes I compare prices and its very tempting

Anything so long as the price is right and u know what to look for in wear and abuse any part used or not thats still good is useable and worth it if cheep enough.

---------- Post added at 10:28 AM ---------- Previous post was at 10:26 AM ----------

P .s. Never buy intill inspected in person and if u dont know what to look for then bring someone who does.

I bought a used CAI- it was less than half what I would have paid new, and it looked almost brand new when I got it... I was ready to clean it when I got it but there was nothing to clean.

Depends on the part and the origins!.. Like if I know the person or not!.. But if I have the cash to buy brand new then I will always do that!...

As example when I was looking for a posi and 4.10 gear set I found a recondition set for 225.00 with guaranteed 90% Or money back. But I thought it out and just got it from American mustang because it would be a big hassle if I installed it it didnt work and have to remove it and send it back..... ill rather pay the extra and save my self the trouble. However I have been looking for used body parts cause that can be dealt with easy

Now I did get ripped off for $30 a few months ago by this dude on TMS. I'm still flummoxed by it. He was military - he seemed well known on the forum, posted a fair bit.... he was selling a bunch of stuff, and everyone else seemed to have got what they bought, but about 5 months and 10 pms later, I'm out $30 and a plenum cover. And he's disappeared

I'm right with y'all on that one... However on the off chance that he's stationed somewhere and turns up here in a few months I'm gonna be on his *** like white on rice.... On principle of course. It's just a crappy thing to do to someone.

Re: would you ever buy any used mods

I purchased a used throttle body for $25.00 and it was in no worse condition than a brand new one, just saved $225.00. Doesn't perform any different used compared to new.
