Still need a HOOD - I want THIS one!

I still need a hood for my '01. The one I bought and received was damaged on arrival and the shipper (Speedee) took it and shipped it back to the seller.

I WANT THE FLAT HOOD! My bodyshop buddy said he can't find one, his parts connection at Ford has no idea what he is even talking about, denying that a flat hood was even available?

So, I need to know what years the flat hood was available, and if it was part of an appearance package. A part number would be good, as well as a source for an aftermarket one I suppose?

Can someone help me with this please?

What he said^^^^. Do you have any pics of what it looks like? Unless youre referring to a hood without the fake vent?

99-04 only made vented hoods Reg and reverse or add a hood scoop... 94 - 98 has a flat hood mostly and 05- up has flat style hoods.. unless its Aftermarket and made special don't have OEM flat hood ... Im a sales rep for a OEM Aftermarket replacement company LKQ- Keystone

Re: Still need a HOOD - I want THIS one!

OK, I was in a hurry when I posted the original... I want the stock 99-04 mustang hood WITHOUT the little fake vent... I saw a silver car in town here that looked almost identical to mine, except their car had a different rear spoiler and (I think) it may have had slightly different wheels..... That silver mustang had NO scoop whatsoever and I thought it looked really nice without that little black plastic crap in the middle of the hood...

I have no idea what the differences are between the 99-04 model years, so I can't tell which is which simply by looking at a cars wheels or spoilers.

I did find a white GT hood with the scoop on craigslist for $150. The ad says "no scratches or chips" so I am having my brother go check it out for me (it's 250 miles away but he works in the same town as the hood).

I'll take a GT hood if I can't find the stock hood without the baby scoop/vent.

Well actually interior wise and lil details on the exterior are different between the 99-04 mustang the just add stuff here and there all parts interchange on these years ... 99-01 interior center dash bezel shifter brzel and console is different between all three years .. 01-04 its same interior set up the center dash bezel shifter bezel and console will all still interchange if someone wanted to update theres there not major changes to .. I believe after 01 they added door moldings the spoilers are different between the years fender symbols changed some due to the anniversary editions.. 03 they switched to a 3.9 engine because the Ford vans did they didn't wanna make two different engines

---------- Post added at 09:16 AM ---------- Previous post was at 09:15 AM ----------

Just a bit of knowledge so u will know differences lol

I spent an hour last night going through eBay and Google Images trying to find a picture of it, but all I can find are aftermarket cowl hoods 2 to 5 inches tall. I suppose rather than saying FLAT I should have said SMOOTH...

The back of the hood by the windshield is the same contour as my current hood, straight across with no noticeable height difference.

I give up. Looks like I'm going to buy the GT hood.

Re: Still need a HOOD - I want THIS one!

After looking at a ton of pictures, I am beginning to believe that what I saw was a Cobra hood from the front and from where I was at, I was unable to see the rear-facing hood openings... I'm really disappointed.

I even went through the Ford parts online checking hood availability for each year and from the product descriptions I can't find anything that doesn't have a scoop on it.

Thanks for the help everyone, but it would appear that I was looking for something that doesn't exist.

Ya i was thinking about trying to get a 4in and cutting out that silly cowl bump and putting a half hat scoop in its place making it about .5-1in taller there then cuttin out the tunnel and swoopin it down to feed air directly into the shacker/blower hat ill just need to add the fiber glass (a wedge going about 1-2inches down)to tie it all together. Good thing im pretty good with fiber glass.

Nm i thought u just ment the cobra r hood. After looking at the svo it is very similar and would/should be less work to accomplish what im after ill have to check out sizes i heard u can get them in 5in lift and because of the blower/hat and taller 351 it might just do the trick.

Re: Still need a HOOD - I want THIS one!

(Mostly) the reason that I wanted a hood without a scoop of any kind is because I have been toying with the idea of making my own hood scoop and building a box to enclose my air filter... I have a design in mind for a functional ram air setup, and how everything is going to fit together but I DO NOT want to incorporate a new custom scoop into a hood that already has one...

The jackass with the GT hood on craigslist already sold it and forgot to remove the ad. I HATE THAT !!!

I wonder if they have any places where you can get custom hoods?
