Re: improve?

A gt sway bar, a tuner and a drop in air filter is a perfect start.

AmericanMuscle sells a bunch of great parts to start with. Look into getting one of their AM brand air intakes, and depending on money situation, look into building up your rear end with a limited slip differential and a gear swap.

Re: improve?

Not trying to be pushy but like i said tuner, sway bar and drop in filter all can be had for like 300 bucks and you'll see a nice power/ tq gain from the tuner and the filter and a night and day diff. in cornering with the gt sway bar to make that even better you can also get a strut tower brace for like another 60.00 bucks and have the handling that much better. The best part about these mods is you can actually feel the improvements your car makes so you wont feel like you wasted your money.

Thank you so much. Those are great I will for sure do that. That is what I was looking for. Am I'm glad I will be able to feel the difference, I've had a couple things done and feels like it didn't change a thing. It also helps that it's not that much money! Thank you.

I think everyone here can say they've felt a little cheated when it comes to mods.

Re: improve?

Im actually quite satisfied with most of mine. Ive got the tuner from American Muscle, as well as a K&N intake system, and a intake spacer from VAP auto. while not special on their own, the tuner certainly helped to awaken the car. Sure they were a bit expensive, but it looks nice under my hood, and the tuner really helps me fine tune my driving style. If i travel long distances, i set the lowest tune, and get pretty great gas mileage (made it from Greensboro, NC to Columbia, SC on a single tank of gas). for around town cruising i set it to the mid tune, which has a tad more pep to it and retains some good gas mileage.
And when i run autocross events i set it on the highest tune so i can hit redline and shift into second gear in almost seconds.

Your not going to get any real gains from a drop in air filter, into a stock air box!... Your better off with a CAI!..

But definitely get the tuner!..

I would get a tuner off a dealer so u can get free tunes or u will have to spend 100-250 on someone tuning it.

Re: improve?

You were prob the dude who did his research first i was the one who just through money at things and found out the hard way i have dealt with new edge v6 a whole lot and im my opinion you cant go wrong with those four mods installation total about 30 min. with 0 experience and ten of that is waiting for the tune to load and all you need is a socket and torch wrench and looking in the right places dirt cheap

---------- Post added at 02:58 PM ---------- Previous post was at 02:52 PM ----------

You wont get any gains from a c.a.i worth at the lowest 80.00 you'll feel so why not just save forty dollars and get the only benefit a c.a.i on a stock motor will give you (the whistle) which can be achieved just by using a drop in

Nope i was just like u throwing money away. Just learned from my mistakes lol. And just trying to help folks off my mistakes. I bought a diablo for over 300 then had to spend another 150 on a custom tune. If u just order from am or another big Mustang dealer they will do free tunes for life. These forums help alot when looking to do mods. Usually someone has ran into or looking for the same thing u r

Re: improve?

Indeed so, you cant go wrong with free tunes for life. Just consider yourself lucky you have an american vehicle. Ive worked on friends of mines hondas before and just for an exhaust it can run almost 700 for it. of course on ebay its much less. And im hoping that tuner+ebay response wasnt to me, seeing how i stated the K&N was the only thing ive gotten from there. It wont be cheap, but upgrading your rear end is always a good idea too, certainly will help take offs, however youll lose some MPGs. a good way to fix that is with a set of under drive pulleys, however if you plan on having a system in your car you may run into electrical issues

There is no added airflow from a drop in filter!.. No whistle, which would be caused by added airflow!.. No HP gains!.. They are a waist of money!.. Trust me I had learned the hard way on this one!..

Twice!..

Re: improve?

I have a 99 dd with just a drop in(i use this as a base to test my baby which is an 04) and it whistles and at the time (4 long years ago) all i had on my 04 was an am cai w/ a k and n filter me and a friend drove both from a twenty roll to eighty there was absolutely no diff neck and neck the whole way through all im saying is neither one will do anything on a stock motor and not much else even with a tune on a still stock motor

On a cai its recommended to have it tuned to get the gain u r suppose to get

---------- Post added at 03:13 PM ---------- Previous post was at 03:10 PM ----------

Just the cai and no tune u may get a 5hp gain and a lil more throttle response but nothin major unless u get a maf with it then maybe a couple more hp but nothin noticeable

Thanks! I just got it but so far I've just put the stripes and body decals on and put In new spark plugs, break pads, and had an exhaust system but it wasn't good. That's why I wanted to get some opinions of some of you guys to see what I wanted to do on this one. You all know best!

I did a lot of cosmetics first. Wish i went the other route but didn't. But I've still got a lot done. Once i finish the engine ill do suspension then finish the cosmetics. That's a long ways down the road though
