Can't get out of park, help!

Hey guys, I have tried everything, brake switch is good, I have tried, sprayed, etc. Couple days ago, I had the console tore apart, I know it's not the switch, it's not the shifter head/button, I had it down to the bare handle and still had a hard time pushing the white button at top to release, once you did, it worked fine (holding the brake), once you let off the brake and then apply brake again, it's back to hard to push in. Any idea's ?

Thanks.

Mine does the exact same thing.. I gotta hold the button then press the brake to get it out of park. Not sure why but after a while it just comes natural to me, doesn't piss me off like it used too lol

Well, I'm ready to take it back to shop, when they figure it out, I'll let you know. I leaning towards linkage or something at base of shifter.

I figured it out myself, under the dash you'll see a black cable coming through a grommet, I THINK it's a ER brake cable, I poured water on windshield and it clearly started draining into the cab, down the inside firewall. I took some expandable foam and sealed up the whole. Then spends DAYS drying it out, it's snowed, rained, no water on floorboard now. Problem solved. Onto next problem.

I think you put this in the wrong thread. This looks like you water on floor solution. Did you fix the shifter problem?

I did not fix the shifter, I'm at a loss with that one.

Not sure about your Stang but the 05+ have a little solenoid at the base of the shifter that actuates the lock for the brake pedal. If it gets gunked up it really hard to push the button or shift.
