Just bought a stanger

Ok, so I just bought a 2003 V6, manual, it already has cold air, and a magniflow catback exhaust. I was wondering what would be the next best performance upgrades to do, I only have about 1500 to play around with right now....thanks

Re: Just bought a stanger

gears with a tlok unit will probably be the best bang for the buck there is. The key is NEW parts and QUALITY installation as they are not easy to install (have to set a few things and what not cant just put them in).

They should shave off a couple tenths from your quarter mile times going from the stock 3.27 to say 3.73 ratio.

Other than that an underdrive crank pulley will add about 5rwhp/tq and help your gas mileage a little bit~

A tune would be next as it will help overall driving and add a bit of hp/tq. The key to a tune is to get a dyno tune from someone that knows what they are doing. Just any dyno shop or off the shelf chip is a bad bad idea... get it dont right or dont mess with it.

Headers dont do anything so steer clear, neither does taking the cats off.

Re: Just bought a stanger

thanks, that helps, but headers don't work? I was thinking about adding those as well as an X-pipe that goes from my cats up to my headers, i was thinking i could get another 5-10whp?

Headers and an x pipe would work well if you plan on ripping into the engine and getting ported heads and a cam, otherwise I wouldn't waste my money on either one.

Also, gears won't necessarily lower your top speed...you top out at 113 now with the factory tune. No need to go over that anywhere and gears won't top you out under that so you're good.

Re: Just bought a stanger

if i did new maping would i be able to increase my top speed? and this is just the start, i plan on doing everything to this car up through a supercharger kit, so maybe ill just wait to do the headers when im ready for the cam so i only have to rip apart my car one time
