Just installed exhaust!

So I just installed my exhaust on my sixer and sounds awesome can't complain! Went with an h-pipe to 2.5 tubing to flow master 40's and 3.5 inch stainless steel as tips. Now that I got this done I want to do headers. Since I'm in Cali I can't do longtube so ima do shorty headers bbk. I was wondering if I will hear a sound difference with these?

I would suggest you not waste your money on those.

Re: Just installed exhaust!

i agree not to waste your cash on shorty headers....yes your stock manifolds are restrictive...but unless you can find shorties used on CL or ebay they're pointless...put he money into something that will do something...like a windstar swap..generally this wouldn't work in cali due to having to delete the EGR...but you can keep it as long as you use a hood that will allow it to clear (i.e. 2.5" cowl)

Re: Just installed exhaust!

yea but the stud in the ex manifold wont fit through the stock flange so you have to open the holes a little i had too do this and im assuming i had stock flanges also you'll have two dead o2 sensors that come out the header so it looks ugly i dnt care about the money anymore i've had two 99-04 sets doctored just for them too crack again cuz of where the a/c drips and my current sn-95 set that leak from that dead o2 so im just buying the bbk's cuz im tired of fighting leaks

Valid point on the shorties, I got mine new in the box for $50 from a kid at work, otherwise I would have bought long tubes...

As for the Windstar, you do not need to delete your EGR, you just need the EGR bracket from a Windstar engine to allow it to clear and continue to function properly. Additionally, you can use your original hood, PROVIDED you either make your own, or purchase the wedge shaped spacer from VAPAuto.com. It changes the angle a few degrees and aims the throttle body down towards the radiator creating clearance for the stock hood.

Spend $50 on a spacer and save $500 by not buying a new hood (spacer currently out of stock HAHAHAHA oops)

Contact Steven at VAPAuto.com and ask when they will be back in stock... or take a gasket to a machine shop and ask them to mill one for you...

Just my 2 cents...
