But hell, its ur car. Pretty sure the converters i am currently running gives you top notch performance, right up there with no cats. Id rather play it safe as of now thou lol
Catastrophic only if the increased airflow do to less resistance (back pressure) causes the motor to run lean. Once again, retune the engine to correct the air/fuel ratio and problem is solved. Your friends gramps is a tard. I'm sorry but he is just wrong. Practice makes permanent, not perfect. He may have been doing the work for a long time, but if his understanding of how it really works has been wrong for 30 years, then his mind won't be changed. Doing something for a long time doesn't make you good at it if you weren't doing it right that whole time anyway.

Don't do it!!! I am missing a cat on one side, and it completely screwed over my whole computer, it threw out a code for so long, then all my o2 sensors went out, and now I'm running wayy to rich, 10 mpg rich -__- and I use this car to deliver pizza, so I don't make out to good moneywise, especially not enough for a 1200 dollar cat from ford...

**** man eff that noise...find a wrecked stang and take the cats off that or get hi flows for a couple hundred bucks...no way I'd pay Ford $1200 for anything...hell you could completely overhaul your entire exhaust for $1200!

Of course your car is running like crap!.. You have one good cat and missing one, causing one side to run richer than the other!.. It's going to cause codes to be thrown!.. Get rid of all cats and retune!.. Your car will run better and you'll have better performance!.. You'll also get better MPGs if you keep your foot out of the gas!.. He'll you can get a new O/R mid pipe and a new tuner for about $500 total!.. Or shop around on Creags List and EBay and get the same stuff for alot less!.. Just double check to make sure your getting what you need!...
