I have a 98 3.8l that is really nice but Laks the mustang power. I have dumped the exhaust and put in a cold are intake. I am thinking about doing a cam and air intake manafold. Is this a good start or culd I get power else where cheeper? Also I am looking for a cobra front bumper cover and maybe a Hood.

There is americanmuscle.com and latemodelrestoration.com. American Muscle offers free tunes for life so whenever you add new mods you give them a call and theyll make you a new tune. They also offer a forum discount but it requires you to have 50 posts, when you reach 50 posts you can pmchrisyoung and he will pm you it. Im not sure if latemodelresto offers something similar i have never ordered anything from them.

You can do it yourself but i wouldnt recommend you doing it. Its one of those things you let someone that had all the tools and knows exactly what theyre doing do it.

The tuner you can but I would also recommend letting a shop do it that way if something happens you can fall back on them and possably replace whatever happened

I'm getting ready for a SSM heads/cam/intake purchase myself... because all the mods I have (look at my signature) on my 98 v6... I still get beat by the 05-09 stock GT's... I usually win off the line... but the high-end horsepower on my engine is AWFUL...

Just so you know not to make the same mistakes as me. If you are looking for serious power... don't waste your time and energy on bolt-ons, get some serious engine mods (heads/cam/intake or boost, because bolt-ons will not get you too far on this engine...

Re: 98 3.8 in need of power.. cam?

the Tuner REALLY helps an auto, i just got my tuner in and before it was tuned it wouldn't even bark tires shifting into second on wet ground, now it will spin them pretty good shifting on dry ground.

Jmod or shift kit will help. Also control arms and sway bar will help a bit

You're car does look really good. I just bought a 99 3.8 for a thousand bucks. It looks really nice with the color and spoiler, but I think I'm gonna have to take some notes from you guys on waking it up a bit. My minivan will dust this thing, lol.

I will post a new photo tomorrow with the cobra rims. You will love working on the 3.8 it seems to not be a hard motor
