wide tires/wheels?

I have the stock wheels on still,(really i'm just planning out what i want) I like the look of the wide tires. My dad calls them "meats".
I'm not sure how it works but I think what i might be looking for is something like, 15-17 x 15-20 sized wheels, I don't want it to be sticking out from the side of the car so would I have to modify to get them to go closer to the center of the car, instead of sticking out the side?

Re: wide tires/wheels?

you cannot go any wider than a 315 on our cars without tubbing the car. Its not worth it for just a street driven car. I would just buy a nice set of deep dish wheels and get some new tires. Other than that its a complete waste of money.

Re: wide tires/wheels?

They will fit, most likely with some tweaking. those tires are some serious overkill unless you are putting down some massive numbers. I would just stick with some staggered fit wheels and tires and just call it a day. But if you are really trying to fit them, just go to a local shop and see if they can mount a tire and wheel and do a test fit. Just tell them if they fit you are looking to order a set.

Re: wide tires/wheels?

i'm only 16 and I plan on keeping this car for a LONG time, so i'm mostly just planning and dreaming. but tires seemed like a pretty basic upgrade. Its going to be putting down massive numbers as soon as I get the money.
ok. so now what size wheels am I going to need for those tires to fit on.
I have not tried looking on other sites but on american muscle the only wheels i found that are 15in are these Polished Race Star Wheels (94-98) - Free Shipping!
