Okay the 4.2 is a stroked 3.8 .. u can get a good one out a junk yard out a f150 on a stock basis it give u 50+ HP over the 3.8 stang engine.. will drop right in ur stang fine.. Ull want a 01 + truck engine tho..

And u can go badass and get forged internals or keep it easy both works

Windstar upper will fit right in there on the 4.2 as well

http://vapauto.com/windstar.htm

Ull need to reuse your stock cam position sensor
Oil pan
Oil pick-up tube and screen
Ur 3.8 damper
3.8 oil pressure sender and tube

How to: 4.2L V6 Mustang Engine Swap

You keep your computer with this swap?
What about the internals? Are they the same? Can you use the forged internals you find on supersixmotorsports? Use stock cam? And do you need a custom tune for this?

so the 4.2 is just a basic full motor swap? couldnt i just use heads and just purchase all new internals, im planning on a turbo later down the road, so for now imma b a naturally aspirated stang. so for now would it be cheaper and easier just to do a windstar intake upgrade? is that all i need? just the upper intake?

Yeah you could use the 4.2 heads etc there a direct bolt up and windstar is the way to go I have one myself and sadly not even gonna be using it cause I got a super coupe set up for my 3.8

Also the cams are different between the two the 4.2 cam gives a bit more torque

Probably not a Hell of a lot of deference but there is some and 4.2 is a truck motor..
