Got an 04 V6 3.8L Mustang, with 26k miles on it and the Service Engine Soon light came on earlier this week. I've check over most of the engine, and didn't notice anything except a clicking sound when idle, and it takes it awhile to reach 25 then after that it runs fine. I had a stuck thermostat, that led to it slightly overheating, but I caught that before it caused any damage to the engine. However, there is still oil, but a very very minimal amount in the reservoir. There is a clicking sound behind the engine on the passenger side. But even to hear that you have to put your head down near the the engine and really listen for it. I have no idea as to whats wrong with it. I go to the Ford dealership later today, but I would prefer to fix it on my own if there even is a problem, and save some money.
YES!!!! I CHECKED THE GAS CAP!!!!!!!
