new engine?

I was wondering if I were to buy a new engine, which is very likely, for my 2000 mustang v6 could I put one in that's bigger than 3.6?

Correction 3.8

im not sure about other engines u can throw in but another 3.8 would be the easiest. and if u want more power and if u got money/time u can go for a v8 swap. u'll need more than just the engine but thats just another option.

OK so I tried finding an engine... then I realized you will need the tranny too. Either the auto or manual. Then you have to think about the ecu and all the things it controls that the new edge doesn't even touch! Then all the custom parts that you have to fabricate to get that motor to sit right. The 3.7 sits higher than the 3.8 so you need a high rise hood. I don't know if it would work! And it would defiantly be cheaper to get the 5.4 swap and maybe even supercharge it! Lol I like the idea (why wouldn't I?!? It was my idea! Lol) but it isn't looking like it is a very good investment!

They don't sell them as a crate motor so you would have to find a wrecked Stang to pull the motor and tranny

Fun to think about though! Maybe in a couple years after someone else has done this and taken the guesswork out of it

if u want a v8 engine i would recommend a 99-04 gt. it will fit better when u get all the stuff together. they got more hp than 94-95 v8's . and if u really wana do a swap get a donor gt so u can get everything u'll need out of it. like the harness, comp., tranny, 8.8 rear end, supports, etc.

Please if you are going v8... its not that much more to get the 5.4 but if you do go 4.6 go with the 3v not the 2v

Lol I'm not worried about the gas. Is there any major changes that I will have to make or will it fit right in?

Well I know a engine with supercharger with 20k miles on it out the newer model GT500 is running about 10.5k at the moment lol ... My conversion was at least pocket friendly.. and the 5.4 is still the same block as the 5.0

Re: new engine?

I think the 351w would also fit? I may be wrong though they fit in the 94-98's cause the 1995 had the Cobra R. more displacement is always nice to have and you can stroke them to 393 i think...
