Squeaking..

For a while my steering has been squeaking, squealing or something like that. Idk how to describe the boise, it basically sounds like something is wet i guess. Its not a power steering whine or anything an i have no clue what it could be, any ideas?

I've heard tierods and balljoints do that. Check those and your bushings. Jack it up with the front wheels off of the car and have someone steer it back and forth while you pinpoint the sound.

You need to pinpoint where the sound is coming from first. I do those kind of jobs myself, so it doesn't cost that much, but most shops will beat you over the head with labor charges.

That may be a possibility but he really needs to figure out exactly where the sound is coming from so we can help him further

Find out where is coming from? Sometimes it's hard. I went over a puddle one time and the noise was driving me crazy. I changed power steering pump and pulley. Still noise there. I changed idler. Still there. I changed tensioner. Still there. I changed belt. Still there. Finally I went to the ford dealership. They had it for 5 days. It was the camshaft synchronizer and sensor. That was annoying and a total of $1800 dollars later all together. Goodluck!
