1996 v6 boost question

so i just bought my first mustang, its a 3.8l and only has 72000 miles on it, runs like a raped ape but i wanted to add a little more power to her, i just bought a universal t4 turbo kit for her and have no idea what the max psi i can run without blowing her up, any advise would be gratefull.

Which kit did you get and from where? I believe, I could be wrong, but 6-10 psi should be ok on stock internals. There are a few boosted guys here that may chime in with what they are running.

11 lbs is the max stock internals will handle and not a constant boost at that .. so to be safe keep your boost at a minimum boost 4-8 tops .. get a good boost controller and waste gate so u be sure to only run those certain amounts

Ya im hoping it wirk good, there are some that like it and some that dont. When i go to install it im going to upgrade that o rings and seal.cause the ones that came with it are kinda cheap but thats what ya get when ya buy a $700 turbo kit but ive heard these systems last longer then expected, i know it sounds weird but im really not looking for a lot of power, tell ya the true damn gas prices to high just needed something to give me some extra ponies when needed.

I personally wouldn't stick a Turbo kit on my car for 700, sounds like a very bad idea.....

I checked it out that T3 turbo same turbo in most outrageous priced turbo kits .. and piping is piping no matter the way u spine it the oil feed and return lines are metal linked with all aluminium fittings .. I say it was a good find

Re: 1996 v6 boost question

the KEY is the tune, which is not cheap but without it you have an engine that could blow up any moment. The next part is you can only run boost up to where your fuel and fuel pump/injectors can handle it.

I am not sure but your stock system can probably handle 5psi maybe 6~

what kit did you get if its cheap and the quality isnt great you might be far better off sending it back and saving up for something else. Ive heard bad stories from cheap turbos etc~ so just research it and be careful.

The engine itself can hold a decent amount of power compared to the 150 stock, I think 5-6psi would be all i would want on it with the internals not being super strong.

Smart idea, you'll be glad you went with a higher quality kit.
