Not happy with exhaust tips

My exhaust tips are crooked a little you can tell maybe in some of my pictures. I wanna know could I cut my exhaust after my mufflers? Would that sound good?

---------- Post added at 09:41 PM ---------- Previous post was at 09:38 PM ----------

Would they sound like this I wonder?

Re: Not happy with exhaust tips

So basically you want to dump the exhaust before the axle...a lot of guys do it...it will probably be louder and possibly deeper if you add turndown tips.

It's a great way to do exhaust if you have the stock v6 bumper...no goofy single pipe and no crooked tips

Mine are dumped before the rear axle. It does change the sound, but not by a whole lot.

I am running straight pipes with No X or H crossover. Loving the sound but be prepared for epic loudness.

Take it to a muffler shop and let them cut it right at the muffler and stretch a turn down open to match, you'll be much happier with the sound v. Straight out of the muffler. Had this set up on my Black 95, now one my current car the catback is similar to a new car where just past the axel on the down slope before the tips start there is a ball and socket type flange and I have the tips removed and the pipe faces down. I like my current set up way better then turn downs out of the muffler cause I get the same or better with out the god awful drone of the turn downs at the muffler.

I don't really see the crookedness, you are talking about, But I do think they stick out too far.

I do see your reason for changing it, and I agree with you 100%.

I'm wanting to do it myself. But I don't have a saw to do it any thoughts? If I can find a way to do it myself? Any other saw or maybe buy a saw blade that cuts the pipe and do it like that?

---------- Post added at 04:38 PM ---------- Previous post was at 04:37 PM ----------

I might just buy me a saw

Re: Not happy with exhaust tips

You can do it with a hack saw..but get ready for a lot of cutting lol. I used a simple hacksaw when I put my duals on...damn was my arm sore after

Plan on getting a decent amount of drone any time you dump or cut the exhaust off under the car...it's just going to be loud.

Yah it'll be a lot nicer to use a reciprocating saw. Let us know how it goes

Only bad thing is that it's still gonna sound like a fart can when you get on it.

I would definitely suggest trying to put a turn down tip on it afterwards. When I first got my car I cut the tail pipes off and it was horrible in the car.

Hell yeah it does! Even sitting at idle it looks like a dust storm is shooting out from under my car! I try to avoid dirt at all costs, but the salvage yard I go to has an unpaved parking lot.

I liked it for sound purpose, gave it a little extra loudness, but I'm very thankful that the 11 has dual exhaust cutouts from the factory. Was it not for modifying my bumper or buying a new one on the 04 it would've def been a different setup
