Shift Knobs

I randomly want a shift knob at times. When I have these random urges I go to auto zone and buy a shift knob but they never fit! I've tried several, all universal, never fit. Do I have to buy one from say AM or what? I don't wanna wait on shipping is why I haven't bought one from AM yet. Is there a certain width that ford made so we couldn't buy one from say Auto zone?

Re: Shift Knobs

Are you an auto or manual...if manual than I'd stick with one from AM or a mustang vendor, or someone who makes them for mustangs.

Those universal ones probably won't fit and you don't want to damage your threads trying to force it on.

As said the thread pattern on your stock shifter is 12mm x 1.75, so make sure whatever you're buying has that thread pattern.

Re: Shift Knobs

Just grab a M12 X 1.75 bolt when you go the store and try and thread the handles on before you buy them. Just an idea.

That's a good idea...you'd think a guy who works in a machine shop would've thought of that lol.

Re: Shift Knobs

If you want one bad enough I think they make adapter kits for different threads
