engine block color, valve covers and others questions

I have the another engine block in the garage out of a 1997 f-150, I thought I should paint while its still completely disassembled. I was thinking of trying to get the same color as the rest of the car, or maybe a brighter red. My dads old fashioned and said it would make the engine look like a chevy engine(I don't care i like american cars), so he said i should paint it blue cause its a ford color. I want the engine to look good.

I also want some good looking valve covers, they have custome ones at tom moranas but there $500,they can put what ever words i want on it though ( i was thinking 256 H.O. in red letters), but whats a good price for valve covers and what other sites can i buy them from?

I also need new heads, I was told i could them locally for a $100 each, the engine I got didn't come with the oil pan or the intake, do the windstar intake kits come with the lower and upper intake? and can i use the 1995 3.8 oil pan on the 1997 4.2?

that actually still helps a lot cause now i only need to buy the lower intake, then I can get the windstar upper intake? and I just decided to go with the old ford blue for the engine color.

You'll want either 99-04 lower intake or the years that will fit that 4.2 ... The 4.2 is a worked 3.8 with longer stroke produces about 40- 50 more HP that the 3.8 pretty sure that 3.8 oil pan will work .. heads 3.8 - 4.2 bolt up the same ..used or new either will work make sure u get them tested and cleaned if used probably go ahead have the gasket matched and p&p or you can do that part ... Windstar upper kit would be a great way to go .. always remember before u paint clean good grease and oil will bubble off the paint use gloves oil from skin will lift the paint ... Color match is wicked
