V8 headers will not fit a v6. The v8 headers have one more outlet per side than the v6 not to mentions diff bolt pattern

Re: Gt-v6 exhaust

Installing a GT-takeoff dual exhaust system on a 99+ Mustang V6

Read this article...it's basically what you'll want to do...you can cut off the stock exhaust with a saw but you'll need to weld the GT catback up somehow.

The only way to avoid any welding is to buy the pacesetter h-pipe adapter which costs ~120. It will bolt up to your cats and to any GT catback, including the stock one.

http://www.americanmuscle.com/pacese...it-9904v6.html

But I'd imagine a shop could do those simple cuts and welds for that money or less.

It's up to you.

The stock piping is the same diameter...2.25", so don't worry about that. But you will need passenger side hangers for the muffler and exhaust tip.

Well there's really no way to simply bolt the GT exhaust to your stock exhaust due to the way the midpipes are set up. On the GT exhaust the h-pipe is bolted to the cats, but it's also bolted to the 2 dual pipes on the GT exhaust.

Your stock y-pipe is attached (not bolted) to the cats, and bolts up to a single pipe on your stock v6 exhaust.

Cutting and welding is required to make it work...like I said the only way to really avoid welding is to buy that Pacesetter adapter...it simply bolts up to the stock cats and to the GT catback. I personally would weld the damn thing to the cats if it were me, but you can get away with simply attaching it.

Yah you could use it...you'll probably have to weld it up to the cats and to whatever catback setup you have.

What's your current exhaust?
