The 94-95's had the AODE 4spd and the 96-98's had the 4R70W 4spd.
I've heard of people doing AODE to 4R70W swaps since the latter is stronger and have lower 1st and 2nd gear ratios for better acceleration. Not so much the other way around lol.
I believe the only major differences other than the gear ratios are the extension housing bushing, seal diameter and slip yoke. The output shaft on the 4R70W is better so if you can re-use that I would. So if you can get those components from the AODE you should be able to put it into your 98.
