What to do?!

I'm so damn torn! I just came across a zinc yellow GT 2004 with 30k miles. I hate the color, the car cost 14k, so with it getting painted lava red it'll really cost 18k. This brings me closer to a 2012 5.0 range which my wife likes much more. I've got enough in savings to outright buy it, but I only have enough to support a years worth mortgage, food etc and would like to keep that buffer in tact. I could do payments on a 2012 5.0 which would let me do that, but I really would much rather get a new edge. It's by leaps and bounds my favorite body style....but 412hp stock is quite tempting. See my problem? Its just so tempting to get the GT with low miles in mint condition (garage kept, 1 owner older lady, not a scratch, ding, or rust anywhere on the car)

I'm interested to see what you guys think, chime in and let me know.

Oh poop, I guess I could do an 03-04 cobra. That would actually be ideal. I just don't have high hopes of finding one that wasn't dogged and had less than 40k miles.

Yeah, I just might. I'm gonna do some poking around and see if i can't find a low mileage new edge cobra, if i don't find one then I might as well pick up a '13 GT. I'm sure it'll grow on me, but I'd much rather have a new edge.

So many cars for sale. Always a bad idea to be impatient with your money. Take a deep breath and wait for chance on cobra somewhere. Even if you have to get it from out of state.

Your money your choice. Do what's right for you right now. If it was me in waiting until I have a little more cash. Living with no payments or cheaper payments is so much more care-free and makes mods/customization easier. So it's ultimately up to you. Either way, sexy car. Just don't look back once you make your decision.

I saw a mystichrome cobra I think 04 on craigslist the other day. Somewhere in Florida. I know its a little far from sc but might be worth it. Had like 25k on it I think and asking 30. I know its kinda high for the budget you've mentioned but I've seen it up for a while now. Ya never know, if you walk over with cash you just might get it. I'll try to find it for you if you're interested!

Just check out the cobra. Its a damn clone. All cobra badges, plus they left the GT badge on and just stuck the svt above it. Looks great but its not a cobra. It also has 118k miles which is way more than I was looking for. I wanted to smack the guy, and my buddy for wasting my time.

I'll check out the one on craigslist....

Re: What to do?!

First, never compromise your safety buffer for a car.

Make sure you, your wife, your kids, whoever, are taken care of in case something were to happen to you involving your job or an accident. Sketchy times these days and I personally don't think it's possible to save enough.

That being said, imo the Cobra is the best bang for the buck, especially if you like that new edge styling the best. Those 5.0's are beast, and the new interior puts our era car's to shame. So it's a touch choice, but you'd be winning either way

14k is too high for a GT, even with 30k miles. I've seen Mach 1's with high 30k's/40k's miles for $12-15k. Hell there's an 04 GT with 49k miles for $9,995 a 100 miles from me and an 04 40th Anniversary with 7k miles for 14k!

I guess it all depends on what you are willing to spend...you can find Cobras for 16-18k but they'll most likely be in fair condition with fair to higher miles. For the same money you can pick up a nice 03/04 Mach 1 or put some decent money down on a new 5.0.

Patience is key.personally, i like the new mustangs plus they will hold value better. But just look around on Craigslist. You do not want to rush and buy something you will regret.
