15 to 20. And you only plug it in while tune is loading. I just got one last week and it is well worth the money!

Re: To all the halndheld turners

its not about the tuner but the tune itself. an off the shelf one size fits all wont give you as much hp as someone making you a custom tune so consider that route. It all depends but most seem 10-15 on a v6 depending on mods you have and they can setup shift points for autos that make a big difference.

trust me... only like 15.. been there. I was expecting like 40, lol... but the car will run much better after the tune.

I upgraded the injectors after I ported the intakes and put on long tubes... added another like 5-10... you'll never get much HP out of bolt-ons for our v6 engines...

Re: To all the halndheld turners

just have a machine shop port the heads for you... and buy better valve springs if you plan on a cam... Not sure if Super Six is Still in business or not, been a couple years since I bought the heads, but they have some good cam setups and sell valve springs too...

Re: To all the halndheld turners

Well.... car is apart right now... being rebuilt. Never had a reliable Dyno to confirm last setup. A free "dyno day" at the local Ivy Tech put down 2 runs, 1 at 175 rwhp, another said 156 rwhp... unreliable. either way, better than the stock setup that was only about 125 rwhp... bolt-ons won't get you a whole lot of power. They are necessary upgrades, but not big power adders...

When I get the heads and cam in, I'll need a dyno tune and I'll let you know what that gives ya... probably only like another 50 hp... fords don't seem to respond to heads and cams like my Chevy does... but I still love it

Re: To all the halndheld turners

From my own handheld tuner experience, it couldn't have been any better, I have a SCT Livewire tuner, especially pay once for free tunes for life from BAMA ( thanks BAMA!) and recieve custom tunes through email. If I can custom tune my car, anybody can. Also has estimated hp and tq, EST 1/4 mile times. And troubleshooting! Mil light came on, tuner can tell me the code, come to find out, broken sensor I could replace myself and saved a garage bill. All in all, one of the best buys I've made

With the same mods as you, I got 20HP from a dyno tune on my singleport V6.

We are split port right? Does that make us get a little more?

Split ports (99-04) have 40 more hp from the factory than the singe ports (94-98). This is why you will see a lot of single port guys (myself included) do the split port swap.

The only way there is an advantage to having the single port setup is for the supercoupe m90 swap, and they say the single port heads get better flow with boost... but I don't really buy that...

It's not flow but think of it as less to worry about problems because less ports

Mm I knew our v6's were a lot faster because of the hp/tq increase. Just didn't know if it affected tuners much or not.

Re: To all the halndheld turners

I put 3.73s on mine with a tlock... and yes, my car does "smoke" a stock or mildly modded 99-04 v6... but I also have a whole slew of other mods as well...

I'd say that with true duels, CAI, and a tlock/3.73s, and a tuner... a single port will run with a stock split port

remember... I said stock split port... lol

I'd find a donor car for a split port swap before you go buying all kinds of parts for the single port engine... that's an extra 40 hp and 10 tq from stock

Yeah the single port are pretty weak unfortunately. I raced one once and it felt like I was racing a 4banger..

Re: To all the halndheld turners

Mine is a singleport . it's taken alot of work to get it as fast as it is. It's used as a daily driver and I'm perfectly proud of how it moves, looks, and sounds. I wish more of us (V6 owners) could get together easier.
I would love to get a newer split port owner behind the wheel of my car to get a feel for what I've done. It's a "fast car" when dealing with idiots in traffic and in comparison to when she gave me the car.
I love my little, respectable singleport V6!

Re: To all the halndheld turners

My performance mods on my single port are way beyond that, and trust me... it's still not much faster than a stock split port...

It's WAY faster that it was stock, and much more respectable, but I'd still never call my car "fast"... but I still love the challenge of making it faster

That's what I was kinda referring to. To get to where we are or higher you gotta spend a bit. Sucks. Glad I ended up with a 99 instead of under that.. I just assumed all mustangs were fast so I only chose the 99-04 because they look sweet lol. Ended up working out.
