VAP Windstar intake kit

So I've been hearing a lot about people wanting this intake and I looked it up and seem like a cool mod but has anyone installed the whole kit? And how is it holding up? I ask that cuz he said he gets his intakes from junkyards. My apology ahead of time if the topic was already brought up and covered.

Unfortunately junkyards are about the only way to get them right now since they're removed from the old windstars. That being said ive never heard any complaints so that leads me to believe that he does a great job cleaning and making sure they're of good quality. Definetly on my list of future mods

Yeah it seems like he runs a tight ship. Also being that metal conducts heat more than plastic (composit), your upper intake temps would probably cooler with the Windstar than the stock aluminum one giving more power. Probably not noticeable but it's there lol

You can get new aftermarket OEM replacement intakes, but the cost far exceeds junk yard prices. He gets them from junk yards to keep the cost down.

My kit included a "high temp" silicone EGR hose that blew out within a few hundred miles. I had to replace it with copper tubing and fittings from a hardware store. I sealed it with 3,500 degree fireplace sealant. Very solid now and doesn't leak. If you buy the kit, plan to plumb the EGR with tubing while you are doing the swap.

Use Loktite on the threads when you assemble and everything will stay put.
8,000 miles later everything is still nice and tight and working flawlessly.

I don't know how necessary or even how beneficial it is, but I got the optional 65mm throttle body because my exhaust is so open compared to stock. At any rate, the car runs great!

Just my 2 cents...

Thanks for your input Just_john. If you think it's a worth while mod then I'll probably do it. Although if I do the mod I will most likely just do an EGR delete as well. I don't wanna mess with it and I'd rather have it off anyway.

Did you notice a big gain? I really want this kit and it would be my first real bolt on since my CAI would come off with the kit. Power would still be goin to only one wheel.... But I'll deal with that later

Re: VAP Windstar intake kit

My Windstar from VAP was the SECOND mod I did to/for my car. When I installed it I had factory single exhaust and had just recently purchased a tuner.

In a bone stock 3.8L with a 5 speed my only impression was OH MY F*****G GOD !
