I just ordered a full roush body kit for my v6 mustang, and I need to know what mufflers can I run with a side exhaust?
I was wanting to do hi-flow cats, pace setter h-pipe and flower master 40's.
Would this set up work? If not what's something similar that would?
Thanks for all help.
And could I do LTs? Or would shorties work best?

Re: Roush Side Exhaust

I have lots of experince with this type of set up. I ran Borla, Straight pipe, glass packs and Magnaflow. I will be very honest with you I hated my side pipe system. It looks awesome and the cool factor is there. But because of how the mufflers are shaped and how the tail piips must be bent it was just not worth the hasssle.

If you still want to run this set up your gonna need to use a same side offeset muffler. their are many brand of mufflers that make this type of muffler. here is what the muffler will look like

if you want to use Flowmasters, you're gonna need is use an 80's mufflers, otherwise i say use magnaflow / glass packs style mufflers.

here are some pics of the Borla system I had plus how the exhuast looked with straight pipe and glass packs.

Re: Roush Side Exhaust

ive seen people move the small round mufflers up besides the driveshaft towards the front of the car more and they could turn the pipe out to the side easier~ seems to work just not sure no how much closer to the ground it makes the mufflers etc etc.

Also just FYI the OEM Roush tips are EXTREMLY OVER PRICED like 150 EACH....

it puts the mufflers very close to the ground. I had issues with the "normal" Rouch set up. I was always scraping the bottoms of the mufflers and always bending and denting the tips and the pipes. in the end I abandoned the idea and got me a pair of Super 44's

I'd like to get 40s on the car but according to ur post it scraps a lot because of how low it sits.
What's the borla set up?
And the glass?

Re: Roush Side Exhaust

Super 10's will not fit under the car for side exit exhaust.

At one time Borla made a Side Exit Cat back system. The system was made to work with the factory Side Skirts but it could also be made to work the CDC, RAZZI or Roush Side Skirts. The system was discontinued

I did not like the sound of the Borla Mufflers, It was not loud enough for me. Plus I had bent the driver side pipe. on the advise of some one at the muffler shop I removed the Mufflers all together. Big mistake, It was to loud it buzzed really bad and the drone inside the cabin drove me insane.

I needed some type of muffler. I was short on cash and i installed the glass packs. The Glass packs got rid of the buzz and helped with the drone. Later I installed some Magnaflow round mufflers to help with sound control. This by far sounded the best. however I never got around to taking photos or recording a clip. Not long after I bent another pipe and got fed up with it.

From what Saturn has said in other threads and in this one I believe there won't be anyone problems, but on a 6er he said the sound sucked.
But sound is all in the personal preference

I did have problems. I was always bending and denting the tail pipes & mufflers because of how they sit under the car. and yes sound was big factor as well. I had this type of exhaust for 2yrs. In the end I couldn't stand it any more. I got some super 44's and went with a regular exhaust set up

Well the note won't be a problem
For more than a year or two since I'm building a 4.2 or 4.3L stroker build for some boost.
