Shift points?

This is my first car and it's a 5 speed manual. When I first got it I babied it so much and would shift at 2000 rpm lol. But I noticed finally that I was really short shifting it. So now I shift every time at 3000 rpm now, mainly because any higher than that and my dual exhaust just gets crazy high pitched loud. Am I shifting in the right spot? What's the best rpm to shift at? Does it change for different gears? Sometimes it's hard to shift into some gears at lower rpms. I'm not trying to drive to save gas, or to race at all. Just regular driving plus the times i need to accelerate quickly when merging and things like that. Thanks!

Really it's all preference, I shift mine at 2k for fuel economy, but you definitely get better pull from 3-5k.

I do notice, however, that at 2k it kinda bogs so just normal daily driver 25 to 3k would be good rpm

5000? Dang are you sure that's not too high? Isn't redline right around there. I don't wanna sound dumb but I don't want my engine to blow lol she's my baby with about 130k and I don't know how much stress her previous owners put on her.

No sorry I was just saying the majority of your power is from 3k to 5k, not to drive that wrapped out constantly. I was saying between 2500 to 3000 for just cruisin.

Lol oh dang ok that's good. So I have been doing it right. I do notice in 3rd and 4th right around 2800 to 3000 and up it pulls real hard for a 6er. Do you know where the optimum torque points are for our car?

Wow that's a lot lower than I expected. It's just so annoying with automatics behind me riding my a** if I shift for fuel economy so I just want to find a good range to shift at to keep them off my butt

Haha that made me laugh. That sounds like a plan to me. Had an old Mazda 4 banger challenge me once. I just laughed at him
