Inertia Switch?

What is it and what does it do? I have a new fuel filter I want to put on and in the installation video on this page...
Ford Motorcraft Mustang OEM Fuel Filter (98-04) F89Z-9155-A - Free Shipping!
the guy says to disconnect it. I have the subs and amps from my Mach 1000 in my trunk though so I would have to unattach one of the subs to get to the inertia switch. It would make it take like 2 hours+ to replace the filter if I need to do this. If I can leave it connected it'll take me 5 minutes to change by just getting under the car and changing them.

Re: Inertia Switch?

The switch is below the driver tail light so as long as your subs aren't in that corner you shouldn't have a prob. if they are i'm sure there's a fuel pump relay or fuse you can pull check the boxes and see what u find it would be pretty much the same thing as unplugging the inertia switch good luck yo

Ha my subs are right there. There's one over each wheel well. I'll probably go the fuse route. Do you know what fuse it is? I don't have a guide or manual. Here's a pic of them...

The subs don't appear to be in the way. Undo the plastic nut on the carpet behind the tail light, and its right in there.

I don't have carpet right there. Because of the subs I'm assuming. But there's only one switch going into the tail light. There is something bolted on close to that but I'm not sure if that's it. Does it have a red button by chance do you know?
