Valve covers

Hi! Have anyone of you tried replacing the valve covers with an aftermarket or just painted it? How hard is it to remove? Esp 99-04 v6.

I've modded everything possible. Where do I begin...
- CAI
- Custom upper intake with 70mm TB
- P&P lower intake
- BV head, P&P 1.9 int/ 1.5 exh
- 224/230 cam
- MAC shorty headers
- custom X pipe
- stroked to 4.2l
- 40 series flowmasters
- 8.8 rearend w/ 3.73
- aluminum driveshaft
- all suspension mods
- ZEX nitrous kit, currently 75 shot

Hopefully you get the point.

Re: Valve covers

Well that is a hard one. I did the 4.2 Stroker, BV heads, 224/230 cam and a custom polyhoned intake with a 60mm TB at the same time. That resulted me going from 176 rwhp to 218 rwhp. So 42 more rwhp.... The stroker though doesn't really help with HP, it helps with torque, but if you ask me the best mods you can do are either a power adder or a h/c/i swap.

Re: Valve covers

If you're on a budget, I would look into getting a ZEX wet kit, they run about $500-600 and it'll get you an easy 75-125 hp. But even if you're not, the ZEX kit works only when you're at WOT and being a wet kit there is almost no tune needed. No tune is needed if you go with a 75 shot. Anything over 75 would require your timing to be retarded and you HAVE to run Premium Gas with it. All in all, I think this is the best bang for the buck.
