If you're getting another car soon, don't waste money on that v6.. The money you spend will be lost because it won't add to the value. Save that $1000 for the 5.0!

96-98 GT's had the non-PI 4.6l.. I would personally avoid them. If you're wanting 4.6l look for a 1999-2004 GT.
That being said, if the 96 GT is nice and clean, you can make it go fast. They're good motors.

99-04 gts are fastest. I personally like the new edge body style better too

Re: v6

if you want to help the car but not lose the investment consider suspension as that will remain on a new engine (or rear end upgrade for the new motor perhaps to an 8.8 as thats needed anyway)

Re: v6

Yah it seems like 94-98 v6 mustangs are selling for $1000 to $3500 up here. It really depends on condition, miles, repairs etc.

The 94/95 5.0s can be made fast too...that pushrod block is strong and can be built or take forced induction.

As said the 96-98 4.6L were non port improved, so they are rated 215-225...much less than the 99-04's but a PI swap and some mods can get them moving.

I personally like think a 99-04 5spd GT is your best bang for the buck..UNLESS you can find a 94-98 cobra. Then you get a beefier 5.0 at 240hp or the 4V DOHC at 305hp..very nice platform to either leave stock or mod.

I agree with saving the cash if you plan on upgrading to a v8 soon...those v6's aren't worth a lot these days and if the miles are unknown than it's going to lower the price some. Might as well take what you can get from it and put it towards a v8.

How much are you looking to spend on your next mustang?

Re: v6

i'm regretting all of the money i've spent on this car, but it's just money. Lol.

BTW; if anyone is interested in a 2001 cobra steering wheel (black leather, also have the column for it too) PM me with an offer.
