Yah it seems like 94-98 v6 mustangs are selling for $1000 to $3500 up here. It really depends on condition, miles, repairs etc.
The 94/95 5.0s can be made fast too...that pushrod block is strong and can be built or take forced induction.
As said the 96-98 4.6L were non port improved, so they are rated 215-225...much less than the 99-04's but a PI swap and some mods can get them moving.
I personally like think a 99-04 5spd GT is your best bang for the buck..UNLESS you can find a 94-98 cobra. Then you get a beefier 5.0 at 240hp or the 4V DOHC at 305hp..very nice platform to either leave stock or mod.
I agree with saving the cash if you plan on upgrading to a v8 soon...those v6's aren't worth a lot these days and if the miles are unknown than it's going to lower the price some. Might as well take what you can get from it and put it towards a v8.
