V6 swap

I got a buddy thats fixin to swap his 99 gt motor out for a 00 built motor with f.i. He asked me if I wanted his old motor for free but how hard is it to exactly swap out from my sixxer for the gt?

Also another how hard is it to install a new cam in my 6 and how much more hp would it give me?

Not 100% sure on 99-04 but you'll need atleast:
ECU, wiring harness, 8.8" rear end, complete exhaust (headers back), and you'll most likely have to redo the front suspension.

It's a lot, but if you're determined you can do it. You can save a lot of money getting used stuff. The best way to do a swap like this is to have a complete donor car.

Re: V6 swap

he wont have to redo the front suspension... but he will definatley have to swap the k-member. the 4.6 wont drop onto the 3.8 motor mounts.

The K-member is kinda what I was talking about. Makes sense.

Re: V6 swap

Yah the easiest way to do any engine swap is to have a complete donor car, but that's not always an option...the most important thing is the ECU. You have to have that ECU for the engine.

NeedSomeMods basically covered what you need...I'd add quad shocks for the rear suspension as the GT's had those, and a GT gauge cluster, different redline/mph. Also the driveshaft will be different.
