If you don't have the traction control button under your CD player by the defrost button then I don't think you have traction control. Mine just has a dummy cover there. I think the deluxe v6 had it.

Re: How to turn off traction control??

The base trim model v6's and some deluxe trim v6's didn't have traction control. The premiums had it standard. It was an option on for deluxes.

The only way to "remove" it is to turn it off thru a handheld tuner. Well, you could pop the abs fuse and I believe that would disable it too but then you wouldn't have abs lol.

Re: How to turn off traction control??

Well if you ever watch a youtube vid of a guy start doing a burnout and the car bogs down and he stalls, well that's because of traction control lol.

So a lot of guys turn it off to keep it from getting in the way of burnouts etc.

Some also hate it the way the computer acts when the car loses traction. It almost feels like the computer's trying to make the car go one way while you're going another.

I do think there is a module add on you can get to turn it off permanently, a cheaper alternative to buying a tuner to turn it off.

Yes, a handheld tuner can help you turn off that traction control, that's what i did. I have a 00 v6 as well and doesn't have the tc button.

The tuner i have is a diablo sport. I bought it in craigslist for a 100 bucks locked. I called diablosport and payed 80 bucks to have it unlock, they just told me the codes on how to unlock, then it's done. Now m tuned to 93 octane, changed my tire rev per mile, turn off the trac control, etc. It really helps.

Re: How to turn off traction control??

mine doesn't have TC or abs... I wasn't sure about the ABS until I almost hit a bus... the brakes locked up and screeched. not the best way to find out what kind of braking system you have.

Thanks for the help guys. Yea I def don't have the traction control button..otherwise I wouldn't be here... I wonder if I can remove that dummy panel and install a switch (from auto zone) to whatever wiring that lies beneath to turn Tc off like in the picture? I'm pretty sure 2000v6 has Tc?

If you don't have the button you don't have traction control, so you can't turn it off.....
