Chip vs tuner

I want to know what would be a better choice a chip or a tuner what are the differences, advantages and disadvantages of both

I have a stock 2000 3.8 and I don't know a lot about tuning cars and stuff like that also I will most likely not be doing any more aftermarket things performance wise besides this for a while

Chip is cheaper. That's the only plus over a handheld. Hand held can update tunes through email, read trouble codes on any odb2 vehicle, not just the one you have tuned. Handheld also has data logging, also its easier and quicker to tune with.

Chip has to be removed and mailed off to update the tune for any mods you have, then mailed back.
